DMOZ penalized by Google

24 Sep 2007
written by Cristina Mailat | in: SEO news

Seems like DMOZ is dropped from ALL the results in Google ( around 200000 indexed pages ), that means no trace of DMOZ in Google results or even in cache.

info:www.dmoz.org – Google Search results 0
cache:http://www.dmoz.org/ – Google Search results 0

Is possible the removal to be also linked with the payed links scandal and also to the removal ( for specific keywords ) of some important directories like:

  • AvivaDirectory.com
  • AliveDirectory.com
  • Haabaa.com
  • DirectoryDump.com
  • BigWebLinks.com
  • LinksArena.com
  • DirSpace.com

  1. Please see the new official DMOZ blog at http://blog.dmoz.org/2007/09/26/the-search-for-dmoz/ for an explanation as to what happened and how DMOZ and Google worked together to get it fixed.

  2. what is you talking about? Dmoz is listed in google
    See: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=site%3Awww.dmoz.org

  3. Perhaps it should be devalued.

It has lost so much value over the last years.
